HourlyRate is an AI-powered freelance platform that helps them enter the market, stay competitive, gain access to mentorship, and be connected to international opportunities. The founders of the company are building a rate maximizer, financial planner, and job board. As freelancers build out their profile on hourlyrate.ai, they will get increasingly more accurate rate pricing suggestions, market tips, and insights about their careers and clients. The financial planner is a function of more complete profiles. Their product, including the job board, is a monthly subscription, leveraging AI to connect the best candidates to the right jobs. Tech in the freelance market serves the demand and not the supply, leaving freelancers at a loss when looking for tools to maximize their careers.
The HourlyRate.ai Story
The founders are Sophia Campello Beckwith and Ryan Byrne. Sophia Beckwith is the co-founder of 2099, a technology and innovation company that designs, builds and scales high impact products. Hourlyrate.AI is one of our flagship products. She is also an MBA graduate at the School of Business at UCT and has worked from a number of corporations and organizations as a change management specialist and consultant. Ryan is also a co-founder of 2099 with his core responsibility being in digital design, seeing high impact projects through from conceptualisation to completion. Ryan has helped many big names create innovative new products including Standard Bank, Old Mutual, Sanlam, First National Bank, and Diners Club.
Both founders recently pitched HourlyRate at the Burning Heroes Founders Association pitch competition in the high-tech and innovation category and came 3rd. As well, they received the award for “Most Innovative Business Model” at AfricArena’s annual conference.
